From Paris to Kasane

Tawana Self Drive was born out of our passion for the African continent, which we deeply explored ourselves on self-drive trips for nearly 10 years before settling down on the banks of the Chobe River in Botswana.

This significant geographical shift took us far away from our city life, while a career change led us to found a local, French-speaking travel agency that can accompany budding or experienced adventurers as they discover the endless savannahs of Botswana and southern Africa in complete freedom and autonomy.

Through our project, we want to share our experience of southern Africa and demonstrate our attachment to Botswana, its culture, its exceptional wildlife and its fascinating landscapes.

Where we are?

After launching and growing our travel agency in Kasane, where we lived for seven years, we now offer our services from Maun, the Botswana’s tourist capital, located at the gateway to the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari Desert.

The story behind a name and the anatomy of a logo

If TAWANA rings a bell, it may be because you speak Setswana or because the name is familiar to you…

This word, meaning ‘lion cub’, has long been used for the french blog that accompanied our own self-drive trips across the Africa. It was therefore natural that the young feline became the name and symbol of our company.

Tawana Safaris (PTY) LTD T/A Tawana Self Drive / Tawana Travel Agency is a local English- and French-speaking agency, registered in Botswana under reference CO2013/8361 and operating under professional licence 2019/TEL/D/086 granted by the Botswana Ministry of Tourism.
