What a patchwork of colours and emotions for this route between Kasane and Cape Town!
It’s already been a little over a month since we returned and despite the passage of time, the memories remain intact:
- Magnificient landscapes : Kubu Island, Fish River Canyon, Namaqualand during the flowers season
- Parks and reserves of Botswana: what a chance to be close to the animals and to be alone!
- Flat tires in Hwange,
- A mobile phone forgotten in the toilet at Victoria Falls ( if you find it by any chance……….. )
Our most memorable highlights:
- The CKGR with 2 lionesses keeping busy during 24h hours around an unfortunate oryx and 2 males around Tau Pan with their fabulous brushing.
- Audrey going head to head with a leopard in the campsite, I think both were totally scared!.
- The Kgalagadi when a pride of lions set up on our camp including 4 teenagers who had a lot of fun with the few things we didn’t have time to pick up.
- We thought the KTP was safe, but no, we were robbed and the tent covers were stolen! Fortunately, thanks to our camera trap, we identified the thieves: 3 hyenas who had a good time while we were sleeping.
Our conclusion:
Southern Africa is an addiction, so see you in 2024! As there is no reason to change, we will count on Tawana Self Drive once again.
A special mention to Julie and Vincent who assisted us in the conception and realisation of this itinerary from the first day in 2019 until the last day of this trip. Our only regret is not to have met you!
