The bush, wild animals, and breathtaking landscapes! A trip that will remain etched in our memories.
We had never traveled to Africa before, and after doing some research, we chose Botswana. We chose this country for its political stability, its extraordinary landscapes, its obscurity to the general public (tourists usually go to Tanzania or Kenya for safaris), and the fact that you can go on a self-drive safari there.
After a few clicks on the internet, we came across the Tawana Self Drive website. We got in touch with Julie and Vincent and immediately sensed their in-depth knowledge of Botswana and its national parks, as well as their love for the country. They were very professional, responsive (answering our many questions) and attentive to our expectations. A few days later, we received a tailor-made itinerary that perfectly matched our desires. No more wildlife documentaries on Arte, Dumela (hello) Botswana!
Once there, we picked up our mobile home: a magnificent Toyota Hilux bushcamper.
During our safari, we were amazed by the wild beauty of Botswana and enchanted by the kindness of the local people. Whether in the Makgadikgadi, Nxai Pan, Chobe, Moremi, Khwai, Okavango, or Victoria Falls regions, the landscapes were breathtaking. We were lucky enough to observe an incredible diversity of animals up close, from majestic elephants to proud lions and graceful leopards. Each encounter with wildlife was a magical moment, made possible by the freedom offered by self-drive. The itinerary, the vehicle, the campsites, the accommodations, the activities (game drive, night drive, mokoro, helicopter flight over the Okavango, cruise on the Chobe River) were simply perfect.
We returned home with our heads full of memories and stars in our eyes after the extraordinary experience we had. We highly recommend that all nature and adventure lovers take the plunge and organize their own safari in Botswana with Julie, Vincent, and their team. For our part, we can’t wait to plan our next trip with Tawana (probably to Namibia!).
