To say the least, it was an adventurous holiday!
We will never forget those 15 days spent in the Botswana bush, searching for Botswana’s wildlife. Of course, carnivores are not easy to spot, but the numerous herds of herbivores are always there to put on a show! And in the end, we managed to find lions and cheetahs. Only the leopard was too shy to be photographed; we’ll have to come back and try our luck again!
The condition of the tracks is far from what we imagined: driving in sand (sometimes deep) for two weeks, crossing fords… it’s challenging. For those who like comfort and relaxation, move on. Driving requires constant attention and the co-pilot has a very important role to play (we did very well, thanks to the maps provided by Vincent and Julie). At least we didn’t get bored like we do on French highways 😉
There were a few issues (the 4×4 broke down, the local tour operators were disorganized, etc.), but Vincent was always available to help us and act as an intermediary. In the end, all the problems were resolved and we were able to continue our trip without a hitch, while still going on all the planned excursions.
Since our return, we have been sorting through the photos from the trip for days. Even after keeping only the best ones, there are still several thousand left 😊 (and just as many memories).
Returning to civilization is difficult…
