13 days of self-drive safari, an exceptional trip to Namibia and Botswana
Many thanks to Julie and Vincent for setting up and organizing this trip.
The four of us decided on this trip quite late, in mid-January, with very little flexibility in terms of dates. Our goal was clear: to see as many animals as possible, in varied landscapes, on a self-drive and camping trip.
The Tawana team offered us an itinerary from Windhoek (Namibia) to Kasane (Botswana), 11 nights of camping plus departure and arrival in a lodge, with a variety of locations, each more magnificent than the last: 4 days from west to east in Etosha, 4 days in northeastern Namibia (Bwabwata and Mudumu), 3 days north of Chobe NP in Botswana.
All our expectations were met and exceeded. Every day brought the great joy of observing wild animals (mammals and birds) all day long without tiring, and the landscapes were magnificent everywhere. The stages were very well balanced, the choice of camping sites was perfect, and the trip was smooth and peaceful. In short, it was a tailor-made trip, without the constraints of an “organized tour,” offering great freedom every day.
Thanks to Tawana, we went to places we would never have seen without them. It’s impossible to list them all, but let’s mention, for example, Horse Shoe at the end of a track in Bwabwata where 250 elephants gathered in a quarter of an hour, the large numbers of giraffes and elephants along the Chobe River, the evening cruise in Kasane, the watering holes at sunset and dawn in the Etosha campsites, the lioness hunting near Manutoni…
In short, there’s no question that Tawana Self Drive offers tremendous added value, and we are infinitely grateful to them!

The game viewing in Botswana is phenomenal. This self-drive safari gave us a great feeling of freedom and happiness. We only have one wish: to go back!
