An exceptional experience on our first self-drive trip to Africa!
We booked our trip a year before we left, so we had a whole year to dream about this family adventure. We wanted to do and see everything in a short space of time, even though this region has so much to offer that we’ll have to come back again.
The itinerary proposed and the well-located sites booked by TAWANA allowed us to travel with complete peace of mind and return home with wonderful memories of our two weeks in Botswana.
Moments combining grandeur and adventure will remain etched in our memories forever. We will remember the hundreds of animals we encountered, the evenings spent by the fire admiring the sunset and gazing at the stars.
Even if the nights were sometimes enlivened by a few visitors, such as the honey badger that was determined to open all the metal trash cans in the camps, or the hippopotamus that was enjoying a sausage tree fruit near our car, its chewing echoing in the night. We will never forget the herd of frightened zebras racing through the camp in the middle of the night, pursued by a lion.
This trip gave us the opportunity to meet many other self-drivers, our camp neighbors, including South African farmers. We spent an unforgettable evening chatting and sampling farm produce and South African culinary specialties around a campfire.
Even though the trip got off to a bit of a rocky start—one of our four bags was lost during a transfer—we would like to thank Julie and Vincent for their availability and responsiveness in resolving this inconvenience. This minor setback was quickly forgotten, and now we have an anecdote to tell in addition to all our memories of the trip.
The magnificent landscapes of BOTSWANA, populated by animals and birds, are well worth discovering! As for us, we have only one dream: to return there!

This experience allows you to forget the everyday life and the connected world. We certainly empty our head and we take full advantage of this simple life in the middle of nature and exceptional wildlife.

Witnessing our first lions in the wild, up close – what an overwhelming sense of awe that was.
