Although we suffered a hyena robbery in Nogatsaa đ, a flat tire in the Central Kalahari, and an ambush by mongooses in Savuti, we mostly experienced memorable moments, such as a nighttime encounter with a genet that stared at us as intently as we stared at it, adorable honey badgers in love at the foot of our tent, and habituated jackals.
We loved the Nogatsaa campsite. It’s a beautiful place where you can see all the animals without having to move your 4Ă4. We had the privilege of coming face to face with a group of five or six lions and lionesses at the watering hole, alone in the world.
We met some lovely people, with a special mention for the hostess who met us at the airport to take us to the plane for Kanana and whom we bumped into on our return in the supermarket and who hugged us as if we had known each other for 20 years, and the army sergeant whom we saw again the day after the hyena attack and who also gave us a hug like old friends.
We discovered animals we didn’t even know existed.
Kanana is a superb lodge with, as always, an extraordinary welcome. We were lucky enough to witness a transfer of power between an old lion and a younger one for a female, and we also saw a leopard.
Mbudi and Ihaha, as beautiful and peaceful as ever. Only Savuti was disappointing because we had to put up with the noise of a generator next to our campsite.
Thanks again for everything! We were already planning to come back for a fourth time ;-)
