We began our journey in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The falls were spectacular and the amount of water incredible. It was a fantastic start to the trip, with our first night spent in a simply adorable guesthouse.
In Botswana, we picked up our Toyota Land Cruisers before enjoying a sunset cruise on the Chobe River. The next day, we went on our first safari, lowering the tyre pressure to tackle the sandy tracks. Wildlife was everywhere! And it was the same in Savuti and Khwai, where we also took a mokoro trip on the Mbudi River. So much fun!
We continued on to the Moremi Reserve, where everything was fantastic, especially the Third Bridge tented camp. In Maun, we flew over the Okavango Delta by helicopter and enjoyed incredible views.
We reached Guma Lagoon in the Panhandle. The region is beautiful and the campsite is great. However, getting there is quite an adventure! On the way back, we even got lost and stuck in deep sand. It took us 4 hours to cover 13 km!
Next stop: Rundu in Namibia. One of the 4x4s started having power and steering problems, but the rental company did what was necessary to replace the car. It wasn’t planned, but it was fixed as quickly as possible. We are in Africa after all, anything can happen 🤷🏻♀️
Etosha is a park unlike any other, with zebras and springboks galore. In Damaraland, where we continued our journey, we loved Madisa Camp, where we booked an amazing excursion to observe desert elephants.
On the coast, we particularly liked the Cape Cross seal reserve and the peaceful atmosphere of the lodge, as well as the breathtaking view of the dunes from our hotel in Swakopmund. The excursion to Sandwich Harbour was also fantastic, and what can we say about camping in the heart of the Namib Desert!
To round off this extraordinary trip, we took a hot air balloon ride over Sossusvlei, which was absolutely fantastic. It was definitely worth it!
Once again, we must thank Vincent and the entire Tawana team who worked on organising this trip and putting together this whole project, which was exactly what we were looking for, and even more.
A trip of a lifetime, perfectly coordinated. Thank you, Tawana! 🙌👏👌

We couldn't be more happy with our wildlife experiences and with the service from Tawana Self Drive. It was truly an experience we will never forget and I could not recommend self-driving more!
