First of all, a huge thank you to the three of you – Julie, Lucille and Vincent – for organising our road trip exactly as we’d imagined it, for your invaluable help and for your support during the tough times.

Botswana lived up to its reputation: wild and unspoilt.

The exceptional rainy season, which initially disrupted our itinerary due to the closure of the Third Bridge area in Moremi, ultimately treated us to a landscape of unexpected greenery and did not prevent us from spotting wildlife. In fact, it was during our extra day in Savuti, due to this reorganisation, that we were able to see a cheetah with her two cubs and a leopard being kept at bay by the three lions.

The intensity of the flow at Victoria Falls made our visit an exceptional experience.

To round things off in style, we managed to drive the track between Khwai and South Gate in Moremi, though not without a few scares. Fortunately, on Vincent’s advice, we did so with a group of three 4x4s, which allowed us to assess our 4×4’s ability to handle the challenges. In fact, it was one of them that ended up ‘submerged’ on the way out of Khwai. Fortunately, on that stretch, we were able to take a shallower route.

In short, a wonderful adventure that I would recommend to everyone.
